Around the turn of the millennium not only was Nike experimenting with heaps of new technology, they were also seemingly employing a very maximalist approach to some of their new models. The Air Max 2001 was a clear example of new tech paired with a 'more is more' aesthetic. This futuristic runner featured Nike's 'Tube Air' - cylindrical Air units that went on to inspire Nike's recent 'Dynamic Air' technology, aka the DN. 'Tube Air' was also later featured on the Air Max 2002, which saw the air bubbles spread further down towards the forefoot (much like the upcoming DN8)... Other models that featured this tech were the C-Phaze and P-Phaze basketball shoes. The intricate, moulded upper of the Air Max 2001 was heavily ventilated and lined with Nike's Dri-Fit technology and the toe was adorned with a ribbed, stretch synthetic material. Both pairs we have here are great examples of obscure Air Max history. See policies before purchase, and get in contact via email with further questions.
